Backup and Restore Creative Audigy Settings.. Where are the creative audigy settings stored? That's the first question. I own an Audigy Platinum Pro, and have a nasty habit* of using the Administrator account for my own devious daily purposes. I guess both these facts are important. So on my machine, at least, if I look here (in the Registry).. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Creative Tech\Emu10kx\BMix there is a subkey named "{00000001-00000000-0000000A-00001102-00000004-20011102}" Make a note. This long numeric corresponds to a file in my system directory, (probably C:\WINDOWS or C:\WINNT or somesuch) named.. {00000001-00000000-0000000A-00001102-00000004-20011102}.CDF and *that* is where the settings are actually stored. It seems like a smart idea to also grab the whole.. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Creative Tech branch of the Registry, and make a backup of that, too. As for restoring the file, you will first need to kill CTHELPER.EXE and OSDEAX.EXE, or else drop the file into place before installing the creative drivers and software. I haven't tested it, as such, but if I remember correctly, the installer won't replace an existing file. NOTE: There are other .CDF files in the windows folder, which most likely contain the other Creative settings. You might want to keep these, too. -- * in a secure LAN, this isn't such an issue, and comes with many advantages.. After a complete system wipe and reinstall, I can drop a backup of my old user folder, registry and all, into place, and continue from exactly where I left off. The Adminstrator user always has the same unique ID, I guess.
