Yes, of course.
If you know me at all, you know I will be voting Yes come September 18th. You might want to enable the "blues" color scheme for this blog!My reasoning is simple..
Until Scotland is independent, there will always be trouble. Which is to say, 40-60% of the population will be unsettled and discontented, wanting change. That is no way to run a society! A Nation should be working together.
Like people, countries have a conscience, a soul, if you like. Being oppressed and governed from afar for hundreds of years has had a serious negative impact on the Scottish Spirit. In short, enough is enough!
Secondly, I want a new type of government. I'm tired of listening to politicians spouting what the polls say we currently want so that they can grab power for a few years, fail, and then hand the same sorry baton over to the opposition.
I want a plan for Scotland. I want everyone (all of us) to get down and decide what we want as a Nation, and then get on with it, regardless of the current political tides.
I want to see a vision and then a plan, and then action. I want all parties to debate it, agree to it, sign a legal declaration and then get on with it. Only in an independent Scotland could this kind of radical shift in governance even be contemplated.
At the end of the day, we need to know if we can do it. Also, it would be nice to see the back of Alex Salmond, and independence is the quickest way to achieve that!
I personally have no doubt about our future prospects as an independent nation, financially or otherwise. And sure, while doing this back in the 70s, before trillions of dollars of oil got piped away would have been smart, those in the know will tell you there are trillions of dollars left down there, enough to last a long, long time after we have all switched over to renewable energy sources; something which we, Scotland, also have an abundance of. I could go on.
It's a no-brainer, which is why the No campaign is pure FUD. They aim to appeal to folk who don't actually use their brain to make decisions. Enough said.
for now..
