Messing around with the Cheap Yellow Display

The touchscreen and MicroSD card are already attached!

I was browsing AliExpress, looking for an ESP32 module with a built-in screen when I found this thing. I ordered it, not realising that there was already a "Community" built around it.

It's easy to see why. It is rather brilliant; a regular ESP32 WROOM unit with a 320x240 LCD screen and micro SD card reader already attached, wired up and ready-to-go.

This saves a lot messing around with breadboards. These things are also dirt cheap. My latest (and cheapest) was only £4.25 in an AliExpress Pick-3-and-save (June 2025). That is a stupid amount of money for the tech you get.

I was searching because I needed a kitchen clock (coming along beautifully - expect this code very soon), but since grabbing a few of these things (one oin every room, baby!), I have found all sorts of uses..
