I'd stopped to pick up my weekly 'Independent'
when he slides into the doorway,
"I'm saving for one o' them, Olympus isn't it?"
"Yeah" I says.
"That or a Nikon"

"Yeah" I says, "they're good too"
"Well, I started saving, y'know..."
"Yeah", I know.
so we walk.

But he goes on and on about it, so I tells him straight-
"It's a fuckinboxwia hole mate."
"...I'd love to take pictures... If I had one o' them..."
"It's people make pictures!"
"Mmmm... well...",
and I proceed to relate
the story of a fictional friend
who creates stunning images
with an old Practika.

"I've got two o them!" he butts in.
so I give up, head to jessops for paper.
